Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2026 Ford Expedition?
The NHTSA has issued 15 recalls affecting the 2026 Ford Expedition, covering seat components, transmissions, seat belts, electrical modules, rearview camera, fuel pump, power window controls, transmission gear indication, and rear suspension. These include multiple seat-related recalls for recliner mechanisms, headrest brackets, J-channel reinforcement, and seat fasteners that may affect occupant restraint strength. Other recalls address transmission shift clip and roll pin issues that can cause unintended vehicle movement, seat belt buckle sensors that can misclassify occupants, software coding for Pre-Collision Assist, and a high-pressure fuel pump weld fracture risk.
How do I check if my 2026 Ford Expedition has an open recall?
Enter your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg and we will check recalls for free. Our factory-trained technicians use OEM diagnostic tools to confirm open campaigns and explain required repairs. If you prefer, call our service department or schedule service online and we will verify recall status at no charge; service financing is available so you can get service now and pay later.
How much does a 2026 Ford Expedition recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner under the recall program. Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg performs recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost, as required by the manufacturer and NHTSA guidance. We can also review your vehicle history and advise on any non-recall maintenance or service specials available when you schedule service; ask about service financing if you prefer convenient payment options.
Can I get my 2026 Ford Expedition recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed free by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory procedures, and warranty compliance. Independent shops cannot always access factory programming, proprietary tools, or official recall parts the way Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg can, which matters for safety-related campaigns like seat structure, transmission roll pins, and airbag/seat belt sensors. For safety and resale protection, bring your vehicle to your local certified Ford dealer for recall service — schedule service with us today; service financing is available to help with any additional non-recall work.
How long does a 2026 Ford Expedition recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: some software reprogramming or inspections take under an hour, while seat or fuel pump replacements can take several hours to a day. Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg provides estimated turnaround times when you schedule appointment, and we will prioritize safety recalls so you return to the road quickly. We offer convenient scheduling, loaner options when available, and service specials at service specials to minimize inconvenience.
Does an open recall affect my 2026 Ford Expedition's trade-in or resale value?
Unresolved recalls can negatively affect trade-in value and buyer confidence because dealers and private buyers often check NHTSA records and VIN history. Resolving recalls at Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg protects resale value and provides documentation of completed OEM repairs — use our trade-in tool at sell-us-your-car-online.htm to see immediate value benefits. We strongly recommend scheduling recall work before listing or trading a vehicle; our certified technicians complete repairs free and provide the necessary paperwork for future buyers and appraisals.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2026 Ford Expedition recall?
Some recalls affect safety systems that state inspectors review, and unresolved safety-related recalls can lead to inspection failures depending on local laws. Addressing recalls promptly at an authorized dealer like Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg helps ensure compliance with safety inspections and may prevent costly delays or failed inspections. If you have an upcoming inspection, schedule service and we will verify open recalls and complete any required recall repairs; service financing is offered to help with any additional inspection repairs.
