Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi?
The NHTSA records show two recalls related to Ford Fusion Energi models: one involving the transmission key removal (recall 14C11) and one involving high-voltage protection on some hybrid systems (recall 19C05). The transmission recall concerns the possibility that the key can be removed when the transmission is not in Park, which could allow a rollaway risk; the hybrid propulsion recall addresses possible exposure to high-voltage components. Recall applicability can depend on the vehicle’s build date and model year; we will check your VIN for free at Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg.
How do I check if my 2018 Ford Fusion Energi has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by providing your VIN to the NHTSA database or bringing the vehicle to our service department for a free VIN recall lookup. Use NHTSA.gov to search by VIN, or contact Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg’s service team and we will verify recalls and explain any needed repairs. If you want immediate action, schedule service online and we’ll confirm recall status and arrange repairs at no charge.
How much does a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the owner when completed at an authorized dealer. Both the transmission-related recall (14C11) and the hybrid propulsion recall fix (19C05) are covered by Ford and will be completed at no cost to you when applicable. Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg also offers service financing if you need other non‑recall maintenance, and we can review available service specials.
Can I get my 2018 Ford Fusion Energi recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized Ford dealership to ensure OEM parts, factory diagnostics, and documented completion under the manufacturer program. Independent shops cannot perform official manufacturer recall repairs that update Ford records; for a verified free repair and record update, bring the vehicle to Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg, your local certified Ford dealer. To arrange a recall inspection or to schedule service, contact our certified technicians — we also honor service financing and will walk you through the process.
How long does a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi recall repair take?
Turnaround times vary by recall; many recall repairs take between 1–3 hours, but some repairs require parts ordering and can take longer. For example, installing protective covers for high-voltage fuses is typically quick, while transmission-related inspections or mechanical adjustments may require more time. When you schedule appointment with Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg we’ll provide an estimated repair time and offer comfortable waiting options or a loaner if available.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Ford Fusion Energi's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively impact trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers verify recall status before purchase. Completing recall repairs at a certified dealer like Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg protects your vehicle’s resale value and provides documented proof of factory-performed service. If you’re considering a trade, visit our appraisal page to start a trade-in or have recalls verified prior to sale.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Ford Fusion Energi recall?
State inspection rules vary, but safety-related recalls—such as a transmission key removal issue—can lead to inspection problems or safety citations in some jurisdictions. Addressing an open recall through an authorized dealer prevents inspection complications and demonstrates compliance with manufacturer safety directives recorded by NHTSA. If you’re unsure, bring your vehicle to Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg for a free recall check and we’ll advise whether the open recall could affect your state inspection.
