What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid?
The NHTSA has issued 20 recalls affecting the 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid, covering door locks, airbags, steering, ignition, electrical charge cords, front seat recliners, and structure. Key issues include broken door latch components that may prevent doors from latching, restraint control module (RCM) problems that can delay or disable airbags, incorrectly assembled steering gears, faulty child‑lock assemblies, and 120V charging cords without thermistors that can overheat. All recall repairs are performed free of charge at certified Ford dealerships like Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg; call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 for additional NHTSA reference numbers and details.
How do I check if my 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid has an open recall?
Check your vehicle’s recall status immediately by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring it to a dealer for a free VIN check. Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg can verify recalls for you — we’ll check the VIN at no charge and explain any required repairs. If you prefer, you can schedule service online and we’ll confirm open recalls when you arrive.
How much does a 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid are performed at no cost to the owner under the manufacturer recall program. Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg uses OEM parts and factory-trained technicians to complete the repair free of charge; any related diagnostics or parts required by the recall are covered by Ford. If you need additional maintenance beyond a recall repair, ask about our current service specials and service financing options so you can get service now and pay later.
Can I get my 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper programming, and warranty compliance; a certified franchise dealer is the safest choice. Independent shops cannot always perform recall-specific software updates or replace factory-coded components that require OEM parts and manufacturer verification. Schedule a free inspection at Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg to confirm and complete required recall work.
How long does a 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall: software updates can often be completed the same day; hardware replacements may take longer depending on parts availability. For example, RCM replacement or door latch part replacement may require parts ordering and could extend turnaround time; Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg will provide an estimated completion time when you schedule service. We prioritize safety repairs and offer loaner options or shuttle service when available to minimize disruption.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce resale and trade-in value because dealers and private buyers often verify recall status before purchase. Getting recall work completed at Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg protects your vehicle’s value and provides documented service records you can show prospective buyers. If you’re preparing to sell or trade, use our appraisal tool at sell-us-your-car-online.htm after recalls are resolved to maximize your offer.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid recall?
Some safety-related recalls (like non-deploying airbags or steering defects) can affect inspection results or vehicle safety certification in certain states. Addressing recalls promptly at a certified dealer like Bill Estes Ford Brownsburg reduces the risk of failed inspections and preserves insurance and registration compliance. Contact our service department to confirm whether an open recall could impact your next inspection and to schedule appointment for free recall repair; we also offer service financing to help with non-recall work.
